Dr. Katie Mazer is an Assistant Professor cross-appointed in the Departments of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGST) and Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ESST) at Acadia University. Her work integrates critical geography with feminist political economy to examine intersections of labor, resource extraction, and welfare state policies. Education: PhD in Geography (University of Toronto), M.Sc.Pl. (University of Toronto), BA (McGill University). Research focuses on: Critical perspectives on unemployment and labor markets Social reproduction theory and resource economies Environmental justice in extractive industries Racialized and gendered dimensions of resource governance Her recent publications analyze labor migration in Alberta oil sectors, Inuit women's mining employment pathways, and welfare state mechanisms regulating resource extraction. She co-authored a chapter on transnational anti-extraction movements in the Standing Rock anthology. No formal advisees listed. Active in Acadia's ESST program curriculum development and interdisciplinary environmental studies initiatives.
