Dr. Mariano Errichiello serves as a Lecturer in the School of History, Religions and Philosophies at SOAS University of London, where he specializes in modern Zoroastrian communities with emphasis on ritual practices, esoteric interpretations, and textual hermeneutics. His academic trajectory includes significant research fellowships at the Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilisations and Spiritualities (Venice), Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (Copenhagen), and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. His educational background features a part-time Master's degree in Zoroastrianism from SOAS (2015) followed by doctoral research (2018-2022) examining Zoroastrian hermeneutics in modern India, particularly esoteric traditions. Prior to academia, he held leadership positions at PwC across Latin America and the UK. Errichiello's interdisciplinary research bridges anthropology, sociology, and history to analyze how Zoroastrian texts interact with lived religious experience. Current projects investigate ritual innovation during crises like the pandemic, while future work will explore spatial/temporal boundaries in liturgy, priestly roles, Parsi Gujarati hermeneutics, and African-Persianate identities. His methodology emphasizes ontological plurality and contextual interpretation of religious phenomena. Analysis of his 14 publications (2020-2025) reveals dominant themes in Zoroastrian esotericism—particularly Ilm-e-Khshnoom—and ritual adaptation. Key trends include deconstructing colonial influences on modern Parsi interpretations, examining pandemic-induced funerary innovations, and analyzing the interplay between textual authority and lived practice in diaspora communities. His awards include the 2023 Early Career Prize from the Association for the Study of Persianate Societies and two honourable mentions from the Ancient India & Iran Trust of Cambridge: Early Career Prize 2023, Association for the Study of Persianate Societies and Journal of Persianate Studies Honourable mention, Ancient India & Iran Trust of Cambridge Errichiello actively contributes to academic governance as Trustee of the British Institute of Persian Studies and editorial board member for Praxis-Knowledge. His teaching portfolio includes 'Living Zoroastrian Philosophy' (UG) and 'Esotericism and the Making of Modernity in the Global South' (PG), reflecting his commitment to connecting historical religious traditions with contemporary theoretical frameworks.
