Dr. Faraz Hasan serves as the Director of Research Services at the University of New England (UNE), reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). His role encompasses managing research grant administration, performance monitoring, and research ethics. With international experience in New Zealand, South Korea, and Oman, he brings expertise in wireless communication, intelligent transportation systems, and energy harvesting. He holds a PhD in Disruption Tolerant Networking from Ulster University (2008). His research has attracted media coverage in outlets like the Los Angeles Times and Euronews, and he advises governments on telecommunications, bioeconomy, and science policy. Dr. Hasan has secured over AU$1.7 million in research funding and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), a former Distinguished Speaker of ACM, and a Senior Member of IEEE. His work emphasizes ethical research practices and societal impacts of emerging technologies, particularly in disaster response, smart grids, and autonomous systems. Key contributions include advancing secure vehicular communication, optimizing energy efficiency in wireless networks, and exploring sociotechnical challenges of automated mobility.
