Francesca La Piana is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo, actively contributing to the Operator Algebras research group and the QOMBINE project (Mathematics for quantum computation and many-body theory). Her work bridges advanced mathematical frameworks with quantum information science. Her research centers on Operator Algebras with critical applications in Mathematical Physics and Quantum Computation, focusing on modular theory, entanglement structures in fermionic systems, and conformal field theory. She integrates techniques from Several Complex Variables and Logic to address foundational problems in quantum many-body systems, particularly exploring massless particle dynamics and modular Hamiltonians. La Piana's 2025 publication in Communications in Mathematical Physics on the fermionic massless modular Hamiltonian exemplifies her interdisciplinary approach, advancing algebraic quantum field theory with implications for quantum gravity and information. Her work within the QOMBINE project drives mathematical innovations for quantum computing architectures. She collaborates extensively within the Operator Algebras group at UiO, participating in seminars and joint research initiatives that foster cross-disciplinary dialogue between pure mathematics and theoretical physics. As a doctoral researcher, she develops rigorous mathematical tools for next-generation quantum technologies.
