Jennel C. Osborne serves as Assistant Professor of Nursing and Lead Faculty of Medical Surgical Nursing I at Long Island University's School of Nursing. Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. and MPhil from Columbia University and B.S.N./M.S.N. from Mercy College, positioning her at the forefront of nursing science for underserved populations. Her research program targets critical health disparities through mixed-methods approaches, with dual focal points: (1) quality-of-life measurement in sickle cell disease among minority youth and families, and (2) opioid use disparities during vaso-occlusive crises. This work consistently centers racial/ethnic minority communities, particularly Latino populations, examining intersections of chronic illness, pain management, and systemic barriers to care. Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals escalating pandemic-era focus on COVID-19's impact on chronic disease management, with strong emphasis on telomere-length biomarkers in aging Latino HIV populations and home healthcare worker experiences. Her scholarship demonstrates methodological versatility across qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods designs while maintaining consistent thematic focus on health equity. Fellow, National Dental Association HEALTH NOW Member, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing As Lead Faculty for Medical Surgical Nursing I, Dr. Osborne shapes clinical training while maintaining an active research program.
