Dr Catarina F. Correia serves as Lecturer in Educational Assessment at University College London's Institute of Education within the Department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment. She is Route Leader for the MA in Education (Assessment) and co-director of the UCL Educational Assessment Group (EAG), with additional affiliations to BERA and AEA-Europe. Her research spans classroom assessment, assessment literacy, critical theory, and teacher education, with particular emphasis on formative assessment practices in inquiry-based science education. Current projects include Where is my Exam? examining A-level assessment during pandemic disruptions and Critical Consciousness in Assessment exploring teachers' critical engagement with assessment systems. Analysis of her publication trajectory reveals sustained focus on assessment design principles, particularly for practical science education and teacher development. Her work consistently bridges theoretical frameworks in critical pedagogy with practical classroom applications, demonstrating evolution from chemistry education research to broader educational assessment scholarship. UCL Student Choice Award 2025 for Excellent Personal Tutoring Dr Correia supervises MA, EdD, and PhD students while serving as external examiner. Her teaching encompasses Assessment: Issues and Practice, Educational Testing, and Assessment for Learning modules. She previously contributed to the PGCE science programme at King's College London and taught chemistry at institutions in Portugal and France.
