Professor Κομινάκης Αντώνιος is affiliated with the Laboratory of Animal Breeding & Husbandry at the Department of Animal Science, Agricultural University of Athens . He holds a BSc in Animal Science from Agricultural University of Athens and a PhD in Animal Breeding from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. His research focuses on genetic parameter estimation in livestock, genetic association studies in human and animal populations, and statistical methods in data analysis. His work spans diverse areas including candidate gene identification in dairy sheep and poultry, GWAS applications, and genetic diversity studies in North Aegean sheep populations. Recent studies explore resilience in small ruminant farming systems and ACE gene polymorphisms related to COVID-19. He also investigates prenatal nutrition effects on rabbit behavior and dietary supplementation impacts on poultry products. Publications highlight contributions to avian genetics, meat science, and animal nutrition, with emphasis on improving livestock production through genomic insights and sustainable practices. He teaches courses in animal breeding and has contributed to extension services through infrastructure development in agricultural research. His work bridges fundamental genetics with applied agriculture, addressing both productivity and animal welfare challenges in livestock systems.
