Paulius Rainys is a Lecturer in the 4D Art Objects program at the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius Academy of Arts, specializing in glass art and design. He completed both his Bachelor's and Master's studies in Glass Art and Design at the same institution in 2015, and has since established himself as both an educator and practicing artist. His research and artistic interests focus on the versatile applications of glass as a creative medium, spanning from traditional glassblowing techniques to contemporary sculptural forms. Rainys explores glass's unique properties including transparency, reflectivity, and its ability to interact with light, while investigating its potential in both functional design and pure artistic expression. His recent artistic output shows a consistent focus on glass as a medium for contemporary expression, with works like 'Golden Soul' (2019), 'Fragile Liberty' (2017), and 'Two Sides' (2020) demonstrating technical mastery and conceptual depth. These works explore themes ranging from material transformation to political commentary, showcasing the breadth of possibilities within glass art. Rainys maintains an active professional presence through his work at the Glasremis glass art studio with Remigijus Kriukas, where they create objects for private interiors and business gifts, with their production exported to over twenty countries worldwide. As an educator, Rainys emphasizes both technical skill development and creative exploration, believing students should be given freedom to find their own creative path. His teaching is informed by his active professional practice and participation in international glass art communities including the Glass Art Society. Rainys has participated in numerous international exhibitions and conferences, maintaining strong connections with the global glass art community while contributing to the development of this specialized field in Lithuania.
