Vasili Byros is an Associate Professor in the Department of Music Theory & Cognition at Northwestern University. His research bridges compositional practices, listening cultures, and pedagogical methods of the long 18th century, integrating schema theory, Formenlehre, topic theory, and historical pedagogies to reconstruct 'insider' perspectives on music of the period. Research Interests Byros explores key perception, tonality, musical meaning, and the role of partimenti in free composition.
