Maria Vetleseter Bøe is an Associate Professor of Physics Education at the University of Oslo's Department of Physics, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. She holds a 25% position at the Norwegian Centre for Science Education. Her research focuses on physics and science education, including student motivation, quantum physics pedagogy, curriculum development, and gender issues in STEM education. She has led projects like IMPEL (Interactive Engagement in Physics Learning) and ReleQuant (Quantum Physics Education Resources). Dr. Bøe earned a Cand. Scient. in theoretical physics from NTNU (1997-2004) and a PhD in science education from the University of Oslo (2006-2011). She previously worked at the Norwegian Centre for Science Education (2011-2016) and as an advisor at MOT (2004-2006). She received the King's Gold Medal (2013) and serves on national education committees, including the Norwegian Research Council's Young Scientists Competition jury. Her teaching includes courses like NAT4010 (Science Education for Grades 8-13), FYS2140 (Quantum Physics), and teacher training programs. She explores innovative teaching methods, remote learning during the pandemic, and student identity development in STEM. Her work bridges educational research with practical classroom applications, emphasizing student-centered approaches and teacher professional development.
