Dr. Federico Bosi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College London (UCL) and a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering of Civil and Mechanical Structural Systems from the University of Trento (2014), with prior degrees in Civil Engineering (BEng 2009, MEng 2011). Research Interests: Mechanics of solids and structures Non-linear and time-dependent material response Thermomechanical behavior of ultralightweight materials Metamaterials and configurational mechanics Deployable and highly deformable structures Publication Trends: His recent work focuses on ETFE membranes, carbon microlattices, and hexagonal honeycomb metamaterials, with interdisciplinary applications in robotics, architecture, and sustainable design. Themes include constitutive modeling, structural optimization, and nonlinear mechanics. Scientific Awards: Teaching Excellence Award (2019) Award for outstanding PhD thesis (2015) Marie Curie Fellowship (2012-2014) Award for best undergraduate student (2013) Award for best high school student (2006) Teaching: Lectures Elasticity and Plasticity (MECH0026) and Engineering Dynamics (MECH0006) at UCL. Laboratory: Leads the Mechanics of Lightweight Materials and Structures group at UCL, combining analytical, numerical, and experimental techniques for novel material design.
