Dr. Pouya Rezai is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering. He holds a P.Eng license in Ontario and is a CSME Fellow. His research focuses on microfluidics and Lab-on-Chips (LoC), with expertise in micro/nanofabrication, bio-microelectromechanical systems, and organism-on-a-chip models for disease studies. Dr. Rezai directs the Advanced Center for Microfluidic Technology and Engineering (ACµTE) and has led collaborations with industry and academia globally. Education: BSc in Mechanical Engineering (Iran), MSc in Electrical Engineering (Sweden), PhD in Bio-Microfluidics (Canada). Awards include the CSME IW Smith Award and Ontario ERA Award. His work emphasizes developing microfluidic platforms for biomedical applications, environmental monitoring, and drug discovery. Notable projects include bacterial detection systems, microplastics extraction, and neurobehavioral studies using zebrafish and C. elegans models.
