Dr. Keith Thraen-Borowski is an Associate Professor in the Kinesiology department at Loras College, with a secondary appointment in Biology. He holds a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2015), following a postdoc in Physical Activity & Cancer Epidemiology at the same institution and a fellowship in Supportive Oncology at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital. Education: BS in Kinesiology, Illinois State University (2001) MS in Kinesiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison (2011) PhD in Kinesiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison (2015) His research focuses on the intersection of physical activity and cancer survivorship, particularly leveraging technology for intervention delivery. Directing the Loras CARES Lab, he investigates sedentary behavior modification, telehealth exercise programs, and the impact of exercise on cancer-related outcomes. Notable contributions include pioneering the Exercise Oncology Twitter Conference and receiving the ACSM Cancer Interest Group Award twice. Awards: ACSM's Cancer Interest Group Research Award (20xx, 20xx) Teaching responsibilities include Anatomy & Physiology, Research Methods, and Public Health courses. His work has been featured in CBS Sunday Morning and Wisconsin Public Radio. He actively collaborates on NIH-funded grants exploring exercise interventions in underserved cancer populations. Laboratory affiliations include the Loras CARES Lab (Cancer Research in Exercise Science), emphasizing translational research to improve survivorship outcomes through physical activity.
