Dr. Alex Amato is a researcher at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), leading work in the PSI Center for Neutron and Muon Sciences. His research focuses on advanced materials characterization using muon spin spectroscopy (µSR), gravitational-wave detector technologies, and superconductivity in novel materials. He has contributed to mirror coating developments for LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA detectors and pioneered non-destructive analysis techniques like muon-induced X-ray emission (MIXE) for archaeological and industrial applications.
