Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski serves as Professor in the Faculty of Conducting, Composition and Music Theory at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. A distinguished conductor and singer born in Gdynia (1972), he has held major leadership positions including General and Artistic Director of the Białystok Philharmonic (1997-2011) and Director of the Wrocław Opera (2016-2019), with performances spanning Europe, the Americas, and North Africa. Educated at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, he graduated with distinction in 1996 under Professor Bogusław Madey. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2007 and habilitation (postdoctoral degree) in 2010 from the same institution, solidifying his academic credentials in music performance. His professional focus encompasses symphonic and operatic conducting across diverse repertoire, from classical masters like Chopin and Tchaikovsky to contemporary Polish composers including Szymanowski and Penderecki. He has premiered new works, recorded award-nominated albums, and performed at prestigious venues such as the European Parliament and Saint Petersburg's Smolny Cathedral, significantly contributing to Poland's musical heritage. Notable honors include: Silver Cross of Merit (2004) Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis (2006) Minister of Culture's Ad Astra Award (2001) Podlaskie Voivodeship Honorary Badge (2016) Through his directorship of major cultural institutions and artistic collaborations with orchestras including National Philharmonic Orchestra and Sinfonia Varsovia, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership. His work with the Warsaw Chamber Orchestra 'Little Philharmonic' and guest conducting at Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera since 1999 continues to shape Poland's contemporary music scene.
