Vanessa Srebny is a Researcher in the Department of Cell Toxicology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), part of the Chemicals in the Environment research unit. She holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Heidelberg (2014–2017) and an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Lund University. Her work focuses on developing novel hazard indicators (CTE and PTE) for chemical risk assessment under the Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC) initiative. She also contributes to the Helmholtz Platform SynCom, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between industry, regulators, and researchers. Her research includes a comparative toxicity study of Bisphenol A alternatives and advancing machine learning tools like MLinvitroTox for chemical hazard prioritization. Previous roles include internships at Nestlé Institute of Packaging (developing enzymatic recycling methods) and the Food Packaging Forum Foundation (science communication). She actively participates in international conferences such as SETAC Europe, presenting advancements in New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and chemical exposome research.
