Burkhard Heer is a full Professor of Public Finance at the University of Augsburg 's Faculty of Business and Economics . He previously held academic positions at the Universities of Bolzano (2004-2012), Bamberg (2001-2004), Innsbruck (2001), and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2000-2001). He earned his Ph.D. and habilitation from the University of Cologne in 1996 and 2000 respectively. Research Affiliations : CESifo (Munich), Netspar (Tilburg) Research Interests span public economics , distributional macroeconomics , and dynamic general equilibrium (DSGE) modeling . His work explores optimal taxation , social security systems , business cycles , and macroeconomic policy analysis through computational methods. Recent Publications demonstrate expertise in DSGE modeling (3rd ed., 2024), demographic economics , taxation-automation dynamics , and pension systems across aging economies. He frequently employs computational methods for macroeconomic analysis and policy simulation .
