Ole Kristian Brones Berg is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Care at HiMolde University College. His research focuses on exercise physiology, aging, and the cardiovascular system, with particular emphasis on muscle strength, physical function in chronic diseases, and training adaptations in older adults. He teaches Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology courses, contributing to healthcare education. Berg holds a PhD from HiMolde (2015–2019), an MSc in Exercise Physiology from NTNU (2013–2015), and a BSc in Nursing from HiST (2010–2012). His research spans clinical trials evaluating strength training benefits in rheumatoid arthritis and long-COVID patients, as well as physiological mechanisms of exercise in aging populations. Key contributions include studies on muscle fiber morphology in master athletes and stroke volume dynamics during prolonged exercise. Berg also leads national anatomy exam development efforts for nursing students, emphasizing rigorous adherence to learning objectives. Collaborations include work with Eivind Wang and Jan Helgerud on studies linking strength training to improved postural stability and pulmonary function. His publications highlight intersections between exercise science, gerontology, and clinical rehabilitation, with a focus on translating research into practical healthcare applications.
