Morten Kjeld Ebbesen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Sciences, University of Agder, Norway, since 2009. He holds a Ph.D. (2008) and M.Sc. (2003) in Mechanical Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark, and completed a university pedagogy course in 2019. His research focuses on numerical methods for modeling, design, and optimization of dynamic mechatronic systems, particularly in offshore hydraulic applications. M.Sc., Mechanical Engineering, Aalborg University (2003) Ph.D., Optimal Design of Flexible Multibody Systems, Aalborg University (2008) His recent work includes energy-efficient motor-controlled hydraulic systems, decentralized adaptive control algorithms, and dynamic modeling of flexible robots and offshore winch drives. Publications span journals like Energies , Actuators , and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society . He has led workpackages in the Offshore Mechatronics SFI Centre (2016-2023) and coordinated bachelor’s and master’s programs in mechatronics at UiA. Teaching roles include courses in mechanics, machine elements, finite element methods, and mechatronics project work at B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. levels. He served on academic committees and advisory boards, and contributed to experimental validation of hydraulic systems and digital displacement motor research.
