Junfeng Ma is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU), part of the Bagley College of Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Pennsylvania State University (2016), M.S. in Engineering Management from Wilkes University (2010), and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China (2007). His research focuses on operations research, data analytics, and sustainable systems design, with applications in supply chain optimization, advanced manufacturing, and environmental engineering. Key research areas include: - Sustainable product/system design and life cycle assessment - Supply chain management and optimization under uncertainty - Integration of emerging technologies (VR, drones, blockchain) in healthcare and construction - Additive manufacturing and modular product design He is an active member of IISE, ASME, The Design Society, and ASEE. Notable honors include the ASME-DFMLC Scholar Award (2014, 2015). His work addresses real-world challenges like marine debris management, pandemic supply chain resilience, and virtual reality-based training solutions. Professional contributions include: - Development of stochastic optimization models for blood supply chains - AI-driven vehicle health monitoring systems - VR applications in nursing education and safety training - Collaborative robotics in construction and manufacturing Labs/Initiatives: Focuses on interdisciplinary projects blending engineering, data science, and sustainability. Active in MSU’s ISE Department’s research clusters on smart logistics and eco-design.
