Karl-Heinz Jöckel is a Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen, serving as Deputy Managing Director of the Institute for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (IMIBE) since 2020. Previously, he was Director of IMIBE from 1994 to 2019, Dean of the Medical Faculty (2004–2008), and Vice Rector/Rector of the University of Essen (2001–2002). Recent work examines coronary artery calcification, lipid GWAS, shift work impacts on mental health, and SYNERGY consortium findings on occupational carcinogens. His 2019–2021 publications highlight interdisciplinary applications of biostatistics in Cardiovascular Risk Prediction , Occupational Health , and Endocrine Epidemiology . He has received prestigious recognition as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and holds Honorary Membership in the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology. Jöckel has led major studies like the Heinz Nixdorf Recall Study and contributed to guidelines for PET-guided lymphoma therapies. His career integrates academic leadership with methodological innovation in public health.
