Dr. John J. Dziak is an Adjunct Professor at The Institute of World Politics with extensive experience in intelligence and national security affairs. He has served over five decades as a senior intelligence officer and executive in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Defense Intelligence Agency. He holds a Ph.D. in Russian history from Georgetown University and is a graduate of the National War College. Dr. Dziak specializes in intelligence, counterintelligence, counter-deception, strategic intelligence, weapons proliferation intelligence, and intelligence education. His research focuses on Soviet/Russian security services, military doctrine, and international security relationships. He co-developed and co-directed the master's degree program in Strategic Intelligence at the Defense Intelligence School, which was the predecessor to the current National Intelligence University. His publications reveal a consistent focus on Soviet/Russian intelligence services, military doctrine, and international security relationships. The works span historical analysis of the KGB to contemporary military relationships between major powers. His research shows deep expertise in intelligence history, Soviet military thinking, and the institutional structures that shape security policy. He continues to lecture extensively on intelligence, military affairs, and security issues throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is currently preparing a book on foreign counterintelligence systems, demonstrating his ongoing engagement with contemporary security challenges.
