He currently teaches full-time and serves as course director for Clinical Anatomy (Tufts University School of Dental Medicine) and Basic Human Pathology (Master’s in Biomedical Sciences Program). Doctor of Philosophy, Clark University (1975) Master of Arts, Clark University (1971) Bachelor of Science, University of Maryland (1966) Dr. Kwan’s research focuses on prostate cancer mechanisms, including androgen receptor dynamics, hormonal influences on neoplasia, and nutritional interventions like curcumin and vitamin E in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. His work spans animal models, immunohistochemistry, and translational studies. Recent publications highlight curcumin’s role in ameliorating atherosclerosis and steatohepatosis, vitamin E’s impact on macrophage activity in hypercholesterolemic models, and mechanistic studies on prostate cancer progression. These reflect interdisciplinary interests in oncology, medical physiology, and nutritional science. Tufts Teaching with Technology Award (2021) Dean’s Award for Excellence in Basic Science Teaching (2016) He has taught courses such as Medical Histology, Basic Human Pathology, and Clinical Anatomy since the 1980s, with current appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine.
