Professor James Cotton is a Clinical Interventional Cardiologist at the Heart and Lung Centre, New Cross Hospital, and holds the position of Professor of Cardiology in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Wolverhampton. He has an ORCID identifier 0000-0001-6548-2723 and has been active in cardiovascular research and clinical practice since at least 2003. MBBS from University of London (1998) MD from University of London (2000) MRCP from Royal College of Physicians (London) His research focuses on acute coronary syndrome pathophysiology , coronary microvasculature , platelet physiology , transcatheter aortic valve implantation , and pathophysiology of aortic aneurysm formation . Recent work explores therapeutic microRNA targeting, revascularization completeness, and novel predictors for microvascular reperfusion. Key publication trends include interventional cardiology (TAVI, stent techniques), myocardial infarction (reperfusion strategies, strain analysis), molecular cardiology (microRNA dysregulation), and clinical trial outcomes in cardiovascular interventions. MRCP from Royal College of Physicians, London As an educator, he mentors junior doctors, delivers teaching sessions for University of Birmingham medical students, and serves as appraiser/mentor for Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust clinicians.
