Reza Abdolvand is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF), affiliated with the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS). He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2008). His research focuses on Micro- and Nano-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS/NEMS), resonant sensors, ultrasonic bio-fluid analysis, and infrared sensing. He leads projects funded by the NSF and industry collaborators, including low-loss piezoelectric filters for telecommunication and thermoelectric infrared sensors. His recent projects include ultra-stable MEMS oscillators and ultrasonic bio-fluid sensors, addressing challenges in miniaturization, thermal stability, and phase noise reduction. He has authored over 100 publications and holds 12 U.S. patents. His work bridges fundamental materials science and applied engineering, with applications in telecommunications, biomedical diagnostics, and energy-efficient systems. Notable achievements include membership in the National Academy of Inventors since 2013 and pioneering contributions to piezoelectric-semiconductor hybrid devices.
