Petros Koutsovitis serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Geology, University of Patras within the Faculty of Science . His research focuses on magmatic processes, ophiolite petrogenesis, and sustainable raw material utilization. Education: BSc and PhD from the University of Athens Research Interests: Specializes in petrogenesis of ophiolites, metasomatic processes in ultramafic rocks, and CO 2 mineralization potential of serpentinites. His work bridges igneous petrology with environmental applications through mining waste geochemistry studies. Teaching: Offers courses on petrography of magmatic/sedimentary/metamorphic rocks, geological excursions, and heritage preservation. Supervises fieldwork in Cyclades and Corinth Gulf regions. Research Projects: Involved in submarine power cable route surveys, marine habitat mapping in Cyprus, and CO 2 storage capacity evaluations. Leads studies on metallurgical slag valorization and coastal geohazard assessments.
