Rachel Tatarski is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Tennessee, affiliated with the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. She holds a PhD Candidate status from The Ohio State University in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, an MS in Kinesiology (Biomechanics) from East Carolina University, and a BS in Athletic Training from Campbell University. Her research focuses on musculoskeletal ultrasound applications, lower extremity biomechanics, and injury prevention/rehabilitation strategies. Key areas include ACL reconstruction recovery, neuromuscular training efficacy, and ankle-knee joint mechanics during functional tasks like landing and hopping. Her work bridges clinical diagnostics (e.g., sonography) with biomechanical analyses to improve athlete performance and injury management. Her recent publications explore topics such as knee biomechanics during cycling, patellar tendon imaging in adolescents, and kinematic/kinetic changes post-ACL surgery. She also investigates diagnostic protocols for syndesmotic ankle sprains and blood pressure measurement techniques. Her research emphasizes translating biomechanical insights into practical clinical tools. Tatarski’s lab affiliations include the Biomechanics/Sports Medicine Laboratory and the Physical Activity Assessment Laboratory, where she develops evidence-based interventions for musculoskeletal health and injury prevention.
