Luigi Bruno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His research focuses on stratigraphic geology, sedimentology, and Quaternary depositional systems with particular emphasis on the Po Basin and Adriatic coastal regions. He teaches graduate courses including Stratigraphic Geology and Geological Maps and Geological Surveying , emphasizing field methods and geomorphological interpretation. His studies integrate sedimentology, geochemistry, and stratigraphic analysis to investigate fluvial-coastal interactions, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and anthropogenic impacts. Key contributions include: Quantifying Holocene subsidence patterns through 3D geological modeling Reconstructing Pleistocene-Holocene sedimentary architecture using multi-proxy data Documenting climate-driven shifts in sediment provenance and pedogenesis Recent work highlights the role of glacio-eustatic cycles in shaping deltaic systems and the importance of tectonic activity in subsurface deformation. His research has practical applications in geohazard assessment, land-use planning, and subsurface resource management.
