Iwan Pasuchin serves as Senior Lecturer in New Media at the Department of Music Education, Mozarteum University Salzburg, and as Professor of Cultural and Media Education at IU-International University since 2022. He established the MediaLab at Mozarteum University in 2001 and has conducted numerous research projects, including third-party funded initiatives. His research focuses on the intersection of media education, artistic and cultural education, and socio-political engagement. Pasuchin has developed innovative educational approaches including the 'WeTube / Denen zeigen wir's!' workshops conducted throughout Austrian schools and the 'Creative Media Design' subject taught at secondary schools from 2011-2022. His habilitation thesis 'Creative Collisions. Contexts and Processes of Cultural Media Education' was published in 2021. His recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward theoretical consolidation of cultural and media education, with increasing emphasis on pragmatic approaches to educational dilemmas and the complex relationship between criticism and affirmation in aesthetic media education. The 2023-2024 publications particularly highlight the theoretical integration of previously practical work. The MediaLab he founded continues to serve as an important center for media education research, connecting academic theory with practical school applications. His work bridges composition, media education, and cultural pedagogy, creating synergies between his artistic background and academic research.
