Suta Blerina is a Researcher in Albanian Language and Literature at the University of Naples "L'Orientale", where she holds a fixed-term research position (Ricercatore universitario a t.d.) from December 2021 to November 2024. She has been actively teaching Albanian language, literature, and philology courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels since 2015. Her academic appointments include: Researcher at University of Naples "L'Orientale" (2021-2024) Contract Professor at University of Naples "L'Orientale" (2015-2021) Teaching activities at University of Calabria (2017) Dr. Blerina's research focuses on Albanian language and literature with particular emphasis on: Modern Albanian literature of the early 20th century and cultural identity formation Albanian literary romanticism, especially Girolamo De Rada's work in Naples Literature and trauma under totalitarian regimes, with focus on Ismail Kadare Theoretical literary development in Albanian Historical connections between Naples and the Albanian world Migration of terms in Italian-Albanian bilingual literary tradition Her recent publications (2022-2024) demonstrate a consistent scholarly focus on the intersection of Albanian literature with broader European literary traditions. She frequently examines how Albanian writers engaged with Italian cultural influences and how literary expression contributed to national identity formation. Her work on Kadare explores literature's role in processing historical trauma, while her studies of De Rada and Bogdani investigate the development of Albanian literary identity through engagement with European forms. For the 2025-2026 academic year, Dr. Blerina teaches multiple courses including Albanian Language I & II (Basic Level), Albanian Philology, Albanian Language and Translation I, and Albanian Literature and Culture I across various degree programs in the Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies and the Department of Human and Social Sciences.
