Steffen Ducheyne is a Full Professor at the Centre for Logic and Philosophy of Science (CLPS), Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His scholarly work bridges the History and Philosophy of Science with the History of Ideas, focusing on the evolution of scientific methodology from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. Current research: Appropriation of Isaac Newton's natural philosophy in the Dutch Republic (1687–1762) Key journals: Archive for History of Exact Sciences , Synthese , Centaurus His publications reveal a thematic focus on Newtonian methodology, Dutch Enlightenment debates, and the interplay between theology and natural philosophy during the Scientific Revolution. Specific subfields include: hypothesis rejection, analysis/synthesis methods, gravitational theory verification, and terminological developments in scientific discourse. Four recent articles (2021–2025) demonstrate ongoing emphasis on methodological diffusion, including studies on Adriaen Verwer's annotations of Principia and Herman Boerhaave's interdisciplinary appropriations. Current PhD positions under his supervision examine British anti-mathematicism resistance patterns. He maintains active academic collaborations, with co-authors from institutions like University of Cambridge and Technische Universität Berlin. His work appears in both English and continental European publication venues, reflecting transnational scholarly engagement.
