Prof. Emel Poyraz is a faculty member at Marmara University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Interpersonal Communication. She has been a Professor since 2020, after serving as Associate Professor (2015-2020) and Assistant Professor (2011-2015) . Her roles include Head of Department (2016-2019) , Vice Dean (2016) , and Academic Council Member (2015-2021) . She holds a Doctorate in Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Revolution from Marmara University (2009) and has served on numerous academic juries. Education : Doctorate (2003-2009): Marmara University, Institute of Turkic Studies Postgraduate (2000-2002): Marmara University, Institute of European Studies Undergraduate (1991-1996): Marmara University, Political Science and International Relations Research Interests span interpersonal communication , political communication , digital diplomacy , and media analysis . Her work examines social media's role in counter-terrorism , digital natives and public diplomacy , and cultural industries through frameworks like phenomenology and biopolitical discourse . She integrates political psychology and strategic communication in analyzing voter behavior and political narratives. Thesis Advisory includes mentoring 43 theses (Doctorate and Postgraduate) on topics ranging from social media anxiety to political propaganda . Her publications (40+) and book chapters address media's societal impact , negotiation strategies , and digital communication's evolving metrics .
