Dr Chi Eziefula serves as Associate Professor (Honorary Consultant) in Infection (Global Health and Infection) at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. She co-directs CORTH (Centre for Cultures of Reproduction, Technologies and Health) at the University of Sussex. Her professional activities span three interconnected domains: Infectious Disease Expertise : Specializing in malaria transmission blocking, tropical medicine, and clinical microbiology Global Health Leadership : With extensive field experience in Kenya and Uganda through Wellcome Trust programs Women's Health Advocacy : Pioneering research on menstrual health intersecting with human rights and environmental sustainability Dr Eziefula's research portfolio reveals dual expertise in malaria transmission dynamics and SARS-CoV-2 immunology, with 15 recent publications spanning from 2022-2025. Her work shows consistent focus on clinical translation, evidenced by contributions to WHO malaria treatment guidelines and development of clinical protocols for infectious disease management during pandemics. She has received recognition as a Fellow of the Sussex Sustainability Research Programme and contributes to major international collaborations including the ISARIC WHO Clinical Characterisation Protocol UK study. Her menstrual health research network spans Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, and the UK, reflecting her commitment to globally relevant women's health issues. As an educator, Dr Eziefula leads the Infection and Immunity theme for medical students, teaches Scientific Basis of Infectious Diseases, and mentors postgraduates in Global Health. She actively participates in the Period Dignity Project at Sussex and serves on the steering committee of the UK Menstruation Research Network, demonstrating her integration of research, clinical practice, and policy advocacy.
