Konstantinos Makris is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Crete. His research focuses on non-Hermitian photonics, nonlinear optics, and topological systems, with emphasis on phenomena like PT-symmetry, optical vortices, and thermalization in multimode systems. He holds an ERC Consolidator Grant (2022) and is a 2023 Fellow of OPTICA. Education: Diploma in Physics Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (2002) PhD in Theoretical Photonics, University of Central Florida (2008) Research Interests: Nonlinear optical lattices, non-Hermitian topological phases, nanophotonics, and semiclassical laser physics. His work explores novel phenomena such as skin solitons, tornado waves, and exceptional points in complex systems. Recent Contributions: Recent studies analyze transient amplification in non-Hermitian systems, angular dynamics of Poincaré tornados, and thermalization processes in nonlinear multimode gases. His work bridges condensed matter physics and photonics, with applications in wave control and quantum technologies.
