Mónica Lira-Cantú is a leading CSIC Research Scientist and Full Professor at Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) , directing the Nanostructured Materials for Photovoltaic Energy Group since 2006. Her career spans industrial R&D at ExxonMobil and academic roles at prestigious institutions, with a focus on advancing thin-film solar technologies. BSc in Chemistry (1992), ICMAB and UAB for MSc/PhD (1995/1997) Postdoc at Schneider Electric and ICMAB (1998) CSIC Tenured Track (2007), promoted to Full Professor (2022) Her research pioneers halide-perovskite, dye-sensitized, and organic solar cells , emphasizing efficiency (>23%) and stability (>1000h under illumination). She integrates in situ characterization (Raman, XRD, impedance) and develops self-powered IoT electronics using flexible/transparent materials. Scientific contributions include coordinating the 35-country COST Action Project StableNextSol MP1307 , with 450+ members and 22 companies, recognized as an EU Success Story . Her 135+ publications (125+ journal articles, 10+ book chapters, 11 patents) reflect her leadership in the field, supported by an H-index of 52 and 10,000+ citations. Scientific service includes: Editor-in-Chief of APL Energy (AIP) Advisory roles for Nature, Wiley, Elsevier, Cell Press journals ERC grant evaluator (Starting/Consolidator/Advanced) Scientific referee for 20+ agencies and 50+ journals Her group has mentored 90+ researchers, including 10+ PhDs and 70+ undergraduates, while her work on stability protocols (ISOS standards) has become foundational for perovskite photovoltaics.
