Dr. Edgardo Sanabria-Valentín serves as the Associate Program Director of PRISM (Program for Research Initiatives in Science and Math) and Pre-Health Careers Advisor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from New York University (2008) and completed postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School (2008-2010). Dr. Sanabria-Valentín teaches microbiology courses and coordinates undergraduate research programs, focusing on student development in STEM fields. Key areas include: Lipopolysaccharide modification in chronic infections Genetic regulation of antigen expression Host-pathogen co-evolution in primate models Biofilm inhibition strategies targeting amyloid proteins Microbial interference with cellular differentiation STEM education program development Scientific awards include: ESCMID Young Scientist Award (2007) Leadership Alliance-Schering Plough Graduate Fellowship (2006) USDA E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship (2017) APACS Presidential Award (2018) BRAVO! Employee Award (2020) Dr. Sanabria-Valentín coordinates PRISM's Undergraduate Research Program and Junior Scholars initiative, which support underrepresented students through stipends, professional development, and graduate program advisement. He revived CSTEP funding at John Jay in 2015 and organizes regional research expos with NYU, Mt. Sinai, and other institutions.
