Patricia G. Amolenda, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) School of Medicine. Her roles include clinical practice, teaching, and research in pediatric anesthesiology. She holds certifications in Pediatric Anesthesiology and advanced life support. Dr. Amolenda's education includes a Doctor of Medicine (2011) and Nursing degree (2007) from the University of Santo Tomas, followed by residency and fellowship training in Anesthesiology at UMMC and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Her research focuses on pediatric anesthesia safety, regional techniques in high-risk obstetrical cases, and perioperative care. Notable publications include work on opioid safety in pediatrics and non-invasive tidal volume monitoring. She received the 2018 Teaching Day Award for her contributions to resident education. Dr. Amolenda actively participates in institutional committees such as the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Training Program (Chair since 2023), Simulation Education Committee, and Quality Improvement initiatives. She designs and facilitates advanced training simulations for pediatric emergencies, cardiac anesthesia, and crisis management. Her professional memberships include the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Amolenda also engages in community service through organizations like the Mississippi Food Network.
