Anna Miskova

Anna Miskova is an Associate Professor at Riga Stradins University's Faculty of Medicine, holding dual appointments in the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Clinical Simulations and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also a practicing gynecologist and obstetrician at Riga Maternity Hospital since 2007, with additional experience at IVF Riga, AVA CLINIC, and MC "Elite".

Dr. Miskova earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Riga Stradins University in 2011, with a doctoral thesis titled "Distribution of growth factors, genes and their products in the first trimester of human embryo implantation in the fallopian tube and uterus." She completed her residency in Medicine and qualification as a gynecologist and obstetrician in 2011, and received her basic medical degree from Riga Stradins University in 2006.

Her research primarily focuses on embryo implantation, growth factors in reproductive biology, high-risk pregnancy management, and clinical simulation in obstetrics. She has made significant contributions to understanding the role of growth factors like IGF-1 and bFGF in embryo development and implantation processes, particularly in cases of tubal pregnancy. Her work bridges basic science with clinical applications in reproductive medicine.

Dr. Miskova's publication record shows a consistent focus on improving outcomes in reproductive medicine, with recent work examining morphokinetic embryo selection methods to reduce early pregnancy loss, management of intrauterine growth restriction, and the impact of epidural analgesia on labor outcomes. Her research spans both fundamental biological investigations and clinical applications, demonstrating a strong translational approach.

Among her professional recognitions, Dr. Miskova received second place in a resident's scientific-practical conference in 2010 and first place at the Baltic International Conference in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2008. She has presented her work at numerous international conferences including ESHRE meetings and World Congresses on Human Reproduction.

As an educator, Dr. Miskova has supervised one doctoral thesis and five qualification papers, while reviewing six additional qualification papers. She teaches courses including Clinical Skills, Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Women's Health. She has developed and evaluated interdisciplinary approaches to emergency medical conditions in obstetrics, focusing on improving clinical competence and patient safety through simulation.
