Helmut Frais-Kölbl is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, where he serves as a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering within the School of Technology. His work focuses on advanced sensor systems and detector technologies for high-energy physics applications and extreme environment measurement systems. Professor Frais-Kölbl's primary research interests include: Single Event Effects and radiation detection systems Diamond detector development using chemical vapor deposition High-temperature solid-state sensors operating up to 500°C Beam monitoring systems for particle accelerators like the LHC Internet of Things applications for sports measurement His recent publication activity demonstrates a strong focus on detector systems for the Large Hadron Collider, particularly the ATLAS experiment. His work on the Beam Conditions Monitoring system represents cutting-edge development in radiation-hard sensor technology using polycrystalline CVD diamond materials. More recently, he has expanded his research into high-temperature sensor applications and IoT-based measurement systems like the Zelos time-speed measurement platform that operates in challenging outdoor conditions.
