Clair Hebron is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the MSc Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy program at the University of Brighton's School of Education, Sport and Health. She holds advanced roles in academic governance, including Chair of the School Research Ethics and Integrity Committee. Her academic journey began with a BSc in Physiotherapy (1994), followed by clinical work in NHS/private practice before transitioning to academia in 2000. She earned a PhD in 2014 examining mobilization treatment efficacy through quantitative methods. Her research focuses on qualitative methodologies (phenomenology, discourse analysis) and interdisciplinary creativity (e.g., the Posthuman Walking Project). Key areas include healthcare conceptualization, non-specific low back pain, and the biopsychosocial model. She also explores innovative educational approaches integrating critical theory and postmodernism. Recent work emphasizes posthumanist methodologies and the intersection of art/science in healthcare communication. Over 40 peer-reviewed articles reflect her thematic focus on clinical practice ethics, patient/therapist dynamics, and pain management innovation. She actively contributes to academic governance and serves as an external examiner for physiotherapy programs. Teaching philosophy emphasizes critical pedagogy, epistemic humility, and reflective practice. Methods include facilitated discussions, role-playing, and creative reflective exercises to foster empathetic, critically aware healthcare professionals.
