Dr. David Hyndman is currently the Francis S. & Maurine G. Johnson Distinguished University Chair and Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he is also a Professor of Geosciences. Previously, he served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Michigan State University (1995–2020). His academic preparation includes a BS in Hydrology from the University of Arizona (1989), and MS and PhD in Hydrogeology from Stanford University (1993, 1995). His research focuses on hydrogeology, remote sensing, groundwater conservation, and climate impacts on water resources . He pioneered the application of geophysical methods to agricultural and environmental problems, notably advancing agrogeophysics . His work integrates hydrologic models with remote sensing data to address challenges like aquifer management and agrisolar co-location effects on the food-energy-water nexus. Dr. Hyndman holds prestigious awards including Fellowships from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (2022) and the Geological Society of America (2006). He has led the Hydrogeology Lab at UT Dallas and served as Associate Editor for journals like Groundwater and Water Resources Research . His recent publications emphasize interdisciplinary solutions to water sustainability and climate adaptation. As Dean, he oversees interdisciplinary initiatives in natural sciences and mathematics, fostering innovation in research and education. His career reflects a commitment to integrating geoscience with societal challenges, from groundwater policy to sustainable land-use practices.
