Oliver Johnson is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at BYU, where he researches microstructure design, grain boundary networks, and materials characterization using computational and experimental methods. His NSF CAREER-funded work develops Bayesian inference models for grain boundary properties and spectral graph approaches for microstructure optimization. Recent publications focus on ML-driven grain growth prediction, solute effects on boundary migration, and harmonic network analysis. Awards: NSF CAREER Award National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship TMS Young Leaders Award He mentors multiple graduate students in materials science research and teaches courses in materials kinetics and manufacturing processes.
