Thomas Bentin serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on chromosome biology, gene expression quality control, and bacterial resistance mechanisms, utilizing advanced technologies including Cas9-derived chromosome imaging systems. His primary research interests span Quality control in gene expression Translation fidelity and protein misfolding Synthetic antibiotic development Chromosome dynamics and cancer-associated loci CRISPR-based genome editing tools His work integrates molecular engineering with clinical applications, particularly in antimicrobial development and chromosome stability. Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trend toward translational research bridging basic molecular mechanisms with therapeutic applications. His work spans antimicrobial peptide development, CRISPR technology refinement, and fundamental studies of protein folding in antibiotic resistance. Key thematic areas include bacterial chromosome dynamics, engineered genetic systems, and novel approaches to combat drug resistance. Professor Bentin actively mentors bachelor's, master's, and PhD students in research projects while teaching cell biology and molecular biology to medical students.
