Dr Silvia Suteu is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Laws, University College London (UCL), specializing in comparative constitutional law, constitutional theory, gender and law, and UK public law. She joined UCL in September 2016 and is recognized for her expertise in constitutional change, gender-sensitive constitution-making, and deliberative constitutionalism. Education: PhD in Law (University of Edinburgh), Master in International Law (Graduate Institute Geneva), LLM in Comparative Constitutional Law (Central European University), BA in Government and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (Harvard University). Her research focuses on constitutional entrenchment, eternity clauses, democratic theory, and feminist constitutionalism. She leads the Feminist Judgments in Central and Eastern Europe Project and co-leads the Open Research Area-funded project on unwritten constitutional norms. She has authored a monograph on eternity clauses and co-authored handbooks on gender-sensitive legislation and constitution-making. Recent publications explore democratic backsliding, judicial review in deliberative democracy, and feminist approaches to constitutionalism. She sits on the editorial board of the European Constitutional Law Review and co-chairs ICON-S's Central and Eastern European Chapter. Scientific Awards: ICON-S Best Book Prize (2023). Dr Suteu supervises PhD candidates and has provided constitutional expertise to international organizations, including UN Women and the OSCE. She previously held roles at the University of Edinburgh, Geneva Academy, and Harvard University's HPCR Program.
