Dr. Sana Murrani is an Associate Professor in Spatial Practice at the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture. Her work focuses on spatial practices intersecting displacement, social justice, and creative agency of displaced communities. She founded the Displacement Studies Research Network and the Justice and Imagination in Global Displacement Research Collective, collaborating globally on projects like 'Creative Recovery: Mapping Refugees’ Memories of Home, as Heritage,' funded by the European Cultural Foundation. Her research explores how displaced communities adapt spatially and culturally, emphasizing co-design and lived experiences. Educations: Bachelor's and Master's in Architecture from Baghdad University School of Architecture PhD at Plymouth University under Prof. Roy Ascott Research Interests: Spatial justice, displacement studies, refugee well-being, participatory mapping, and cultural heritage preservation. She examines how war and conflict shape spatial resilience, such as Baghdad’s blast wall adaptations and refugee memory mapping.
