Ayşe Gürel is a full professor at the Department of Foreign Language Education, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from McGill University, Canada, and specializes in second language acquisition (SLA), first language attrition, neurolinguistics, and bilingualism. Her research focuses on morphosyntactic features in Turkish and English, neuro- and psycho-linguistic aspects of language acquisition/loss, and heritage language development. She has authored/co-authored over 70 publications, including books and journal articles in top-tier venues like Second Language Research and Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism .
