Jakob Madsen is a Professor of Economics at the UWA Business School, The University of Western Australia, since January 2019. He previously held the Xiaokai Yang Distinguished Professorship at Monash University (2011–2019) and has held professorial roles at institutions including the University of Copenhagen and Brunel University. Madsen is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and was an ARC Professorial Fellow (2011–2015).
