John Kammeyer-Mueller holds the Curtis L. Carlson Professorship of Industrial Relations in the Department of Work and Organizations at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. A leading scholar with over 50 peer-reviewed publications, he specializes in organizational behavior and human resources research with emphasis on evidence-based HR practices. He earned his PhD in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota in 2002, establishing his academic foundation at the institution where he now holds an endowed chair. His research program critically examines socialization and onboarding dynamics, personality influences on workplace behavior, career trajectory development, and the interplay of attitudes and emotions in organizational contexts. A distinctive thread throughout his work explores how interpersonal relationships with colleagues and supervisors shape new employees' long-term environmental perceptions and adjustment patterns. Analysis of his recent publications reveals intensifying focus on quantitative methodologies including meta-analysis and machine learning applications, with growing attention to turnover dynamics, newcomer adjustment processes, and the integration of work-nonwork domain interactions in contemporary HR scholarship. Kammeyer-Mueller provides academic leadership as Director of the Center for Human Resources and Labor Studies and previously served as Faculty Director for the Master of Human Resources and Industrial Relations program. His industry impact extends through consulting engagements with organizations including Minneapolis Public Schools, Minnesota Department of Economic Security, Florida Nurses Association, and corporations such as 3M, Merck, and General Mills. He maintains active scholarly service through editorial roles including past Associate Editorship of Personnel Psychology (2017-2020) and current positions on the editorial boards of Journal of Applied Psychology and Organizational Research Methods.
