José Manuel Cabrero Ballarín is a Professor at the Department of Construction, Installations and Structures, within the School of Architecture at the University of Navarra. He has served as Director of the Onesta Wood Chair since its foundation in 2011 and has been recognized for his expertise in timber engineering and structural joints. His research spans structural design in wood and steel connections, with significant contributions to Eurocode 5 standards. Doctorate in Architecture (2006, University of Navarra, Extraordinary Prize) Architecture degree (2001) His research focuses on structural wood joints, semi-rigid steel connections, and sustainable construction technologies. He leads the AADS Automized Analysis and Design of Structures research group and has directed competitive projects, including European and Spanish National Plan initiatives. His work emphasizes practical applications for the construction industry. Scientific awards include the prestigious Humboldt Fellowship and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the University of Navarra. He has participated in international committees such as Eurocode 5 Working Group on Connections (CEN/TC250/SC5/WG5) and contributed to global timber engineering conferences.
