Nicole Kalms is a Professor in the Department of Design at Monash University’s Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, where she also serves as Associate Dean of Research. She is the founding director of the XYX Lab, a pioneering research group focused on Gender and Place, leading national and international projects on gender equity in urban environments. She emphasizes interdisciplinary and co-design approaches to address systemic inequities in cities, particularly for women and marginalized communities. Her recent publications and projects reveal a strong thematic focus on gender-sensitive urban design, digital interventions for public engagement, and inclusive mobility.
